What are we to understand from the great sorrow that Jesus experienced in the garden of Gethsemane? Did He really mean it, when He prayed for the "cup" to be removed from Him? In this first study of "Jesus in 3-D," we discover that the answer lies in His dual nature: in His perfect humanity, he recoils from suffering, yet chooses to obey the Father's will.

Then Evangelist warned Christian to be careful and not to turn aside again, "lest you perish in the way, for His wrath is quickly kindled."

Then Christian asked to go back to the way leading to the narrow sheep gate, and Evangelist, after he had kissed him, gave him a smile and bid him Godspeed.

At Truth For Life, we prayerfully set a year-end financial goal of $2.5 million to offset the annual cost of teaching the Bible on the radio and online. Our plans were quite straightforward: simply communicate the need to God's people and if He chose to bless the work and plans, then it would be accomplished. As we look at the giving numbers now at the close of the year, we are grateful to communicate that God has graciously supplied the ministry with just over $2.4 million.

Now I saw in my dream, just as they had finished talking, that they came near to a very miry swamp that was in the middle of the valley. Then suddenly both Christian and Pliable, who were not paying attention to where they were walking, fell into the swamp. The name of the swamp was Despond. They wallowed there until they were both completely covered with mud. Christian, weighed down by the burden on his back, began to sink .

Then Pliable said, "Ah, neighbor Christian, where are you now?"

"Honestly," said Christian, "I don't know."

When you hear the phrase "the Kingdom of God," you likely think of Jesus' teachings during His earthly ministry. In our final study in Isaiah 9, we learn that this Kingdom was prophesied long before our Savior's birth at Bethlehem. And unlike earthly kingdoms, His government and authority will never end.

As I walked through the wilderness of this world, I came to a certain place where there was a cave; and I lay down in that place to sleep. As I slept, I dreamed a dream, and in this dream I saw a man clothed in rags, standing in a place with his face turned away from his own house. He had a book in his hand and a heavy burden upon his back...

The writer to the Hebrews encourages us to fix our eyes on Jesus. This is a good word for the opening month of the year. The Jesus to whom we are introduced is He who has died for our sins and has been raised for our justification. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. Since He is the One that has begun a good work in us, we may be confident that He will complete what He has planned. In contrast to the self-focused, self-reliant messages that are emphasized by contemporary culture, the Christian acknowledges that HIS strength is made perfect in our weakness...

For more than three centuries both Christians and non-Christians, young and old, have been fascinated by the characters and story of John Bunyan's The Pilgrim's Progress: From This World to That Which Is to Come, a story regarded as one of the most significant works of English literature. While keeping the dignity and beauty of Bunyan's language, Editor C. J. Lovik has updated words and phrases for today's readers...

The familiar terms in Isaiah 6 (Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace) are not just titles of the incarnate Christ -- they are roles He fills in the life of the believer. In this final Advent study, we discover the actions Jesus performs in each role and the very real difference they make in our daily experience...
