"We have been as fig trees planted in the vineyard. You have come many years seeking fruit from us, but have found nothing. We might justly be cut down and cast into the fire for uselessly taking up space in the ground. You came looking for plump, sweet grapes but you found only sour grapes instead. We have been unprofitable vines bringing forth fruit only to satisfy ourselves. Luke 13:6, 7; Matt. 3:10; Isa. 5:4.
We have known to do good, but have not done it. We have hid our Lord's money, and deserve the doom of a wicked, slothful servant. We have been unfaithful stewards that have wasted our Lord's wealth. Though we are only one sinner among many, as one sinner we have destroyed a lot of good. James 4:17; Matt. 25:18, 26; Luke 16:1; Eccles. 9:18."
