In Journey to the Cross, Alistair Begg explores the accounts of Christ’s final steps as recorded in the Gospel of John. He considers the cruelty and degradation Jesus suffers at the hands of His accusers, beginning with His arrest and leading to His final breath on the cross.
As Alistair recounts the events of Christ’s final hours, he examines Pontius Pilate’s attempts to avoid a final verdict of who Jesus is. Faced with a condemning decision, Pilate seeks to sidestep the inevitable. While Pilate endeavors to postpone his response to Jesus as Lord and Savior, his neutral stance ultimately leads to Jesus’ crucifixion. His lack of action reveals the danger of taking a neutral posture when it comes to Jesus. We too are challenged to make a choice, and Jesus does not allow us the option of impartiality.
We hope that Journey to the Cross will help focus your thoughts and attention to Christ’s death and resurrection as Easter Sunday approaches.
