To Marry or Not to Marry? Part Two

In Part 2 of this two-part message, Paul’s teaching on marriage and singleness is further clarified from an eternal perspective. Whether married or single, the believer’s highest obligation should be to the Lord and His work. The responsibilities and privileges of family life are accompanied by unique demands and distractions that are not the concerns of the unmarried, making singleness a more sensible, though certainly not more spiritual, option. The key is to be content and to serve God fully in whatever role He has given you.

To Marry or Not to Marry? Part One

In Part 1 of this two-part message, the context is being established for Paul’s instruction to the Corinthian’s regarding whether or not they should marry. Paul explains his concerns and encourages men and women to view all the practical concerns of life from an eternal perspective. In light of eternity, the preoccupations of the church should be vastly different from the world.

Bloom Where You're Planted

In 1 Corinthians 7:17-24, Paul calls for stability and contentment among believers, regardless of their station in life. He uses circumcision and slavery to illustrate God’s sovereignty over social and religious barriers of his day. Similarly, today it is possible to live a content Christian life, irrespective of external circumstances, by allowing God to work within us and by enjoying a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
