With passion and conviction, Rico Tice shares from Mark's gospel and 2 Corinthians 4 how to preach the gospel. With so many false gospels permeating the church, it is crucial now more than ever to know how to share the gospel. Rico reminds us that we preach Christ, but that it is God who opens blind eyes. As one goes through the gospel of Mark it is clear with each passing story that Jesus must be more than a teacher, carpenter, prophet, or good person--Jesus must be the Son of God!

Are the gospels history or legend? Many believe that the gospels were invented by men – that they are fabricated stories and not historical fact. Alistair begins this series, The Gospel According to Mark, by examining the events, authors, manuscripts, and eyewitness accounts behind the writings. The result of this examination assures us that the gospels are, in fact, the true and authentic record of the life of Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of God, and the fulfillment of the Scripture.

Three hundred years after the Old Testament prophets foretold of a coming Messiah, John the Baptist stepped onto the stage of human history and announced that One greater than he is about to arrive. Baptizing in the desert region, John preached clearly about the need for repentance and the means of forgiveness.

Mark’s Gospel, the first to be written, emphasizes the certainty that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and the fulfillment of God’s purpose. With nearly a third of the narrative dedicated to the passion and the resurrection of Jesus, the Gospel of Mark aims to persuade all who read to believe in Jesus. Attributed to John Mark, a contemporary of the disciple Peter, the Gospel is identified as Peter’s first-hand account of life with Jesus. Not a creator, but a conscientious compiler of the information, Mark provides vivid descriptions of the relationship between Jesus and His disciples, Jesus ...

It is a well-known scene – Jesus being baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. But if Jesus were sinless, then why was he baptized? And why, after His baptism, did the Spirit of God send Jesus into the wilderness for 40 days to be tempted by Satan? Alistair helps us understand that we need the One who stood in the water and wandered in the wilderness to repair our fallen world.

Jesus entered Galilee as a man with a message and a mission. But this was no ordinary man. Sent with divine authority, Jesus announced that the kingdom of God is near and all should repent and believe the Good News. The King has come to rule and reign. Jesus’ call is clear – we are to become fishers of men and committed to His cause above all other things.

The focal point of history and eternity is not in the movement of great armies or nations or in the decisions of lawmakers or celebrities, but in the person and work of Jesus Christ. In this study we learn how Jesus fulfills and defines the role of prophet, priest and king.

When Jesus healed the demon-possessed and sick, He did so in a way that clearly demonstrated His compassion, power and divine nature. These displays of love and mercy were not only meant to show Christ’s marvelous attributes, but they illustrated the fact that Christ came to spiritually restore a defiled people unto Himself. He promised to heal men and women who are held captive by the disease of sin. He was, and still is, the Great Physician that heals the eternal souls of men.

Jesus taught in the synagogue, not as a teacher of the law, but as One with authority. The very Scriptures to which He turned were the Scriptures which pointed to Him as the Messiah and King of Kings. The inauguration of His kingdom, however, brought with it the invasion of darkness and confrontation by Satan. But the Son of God came to destroy the devil’s work, and the demons immediately understood that the ministry of Jesus will destroy them.

What do a leper and a paraplegic have in common? In this story from the Gospel Mark about an encounter with Jesus, both men were in need of healing, both in body and in spirit. According to Jesus, the need for forgiveness is greater than for physical healing, and as it was for those two men, so it is for us.
