The Judgment

Does the certainty of God's judgment have any significance for Christians? Our position is Christ is certain. But the Bible is clear that the everyday actions of our lives are significant, and we will be accountable for how we have built on the foundation of our faith. Will we enter heaven like a triumphant athlete or like a shipwrecked sailor?

The Keeping Power of God

The Bible tells us that the Lord "keeps" those who are His. What then are we to think if an individual has professed to be a Christian, but later falls into grievous sin? In this survey of scriptures on the perseverance of the believer, we see that God's Word does not sidestep difficult questions, but addresses them very practically. It is God Who keeps – our part is to believe and to use the means of perseverance He has provided.

He Will Judge the World

When the apostle Paul presented God's truth to the people of Athens, he did not hold back from topics that may be uncomfortable - for example, the coming Day of God's Judgement. The fact that our Creator and Father is also the righteous Judge gives meaning to our moral choices and to suffering, and challenges us to prepare to meet the Day in our own hearts and lives.

Let Us Love One Another

How can we know that we have eternal life? What does it look like when we truly love God? In this study from 1 John 4, Alistair Begg shows us that our belief in God, our obedience to His Word, and our love for one another make our invisible God visible and provides us with assurance that we truly belong to Him.

Approved By God

What is our legacy? What do we leave behind? Alistair Begg directs a college student audience to Paul’s final instruction to Timothy: “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved.” Each day our actions affect those around us in ways that are either helpful or harmful, encouraging or unreliable. Such conscious choices paint a canvas of the picture we ultimately leave behind. In this message, men and women are encouraged to choose their friends wisely and not to underestimate a life lived to the glory of God.

Make the Most of Every Opportunity

Contemporary influences encourage us to “live for the moment” without regard for eternal consequences. This kind of thinking is merely an illusion. The psalmist teaches us to “number our days aright” and to be mindful of using our time to gain a heart of wisdom. Speaking to a college student audience, Alistair Begg cautions against squandering opportunities and instead, remaining attentive to the ultimate relationship that exists between our mortality and sin.

A Call to the Potential Drifter

Daily commitment and devotion are essential to our step-by-step journey toward heaven. The Apostle Paul compares our daily lives to conditioning for a marathon. Such preparation entails strain and difficulty. When we are not prepared for sacrifice, we will never know the joy of the prize. In this message on 1 Corinthians 9, Alistair Begg instructs us to not run aimlessly, but instead to run for the goal of eternal life with Christ.

Temptation

Temptation is the enticement to sin and is rooted in our own evil desire. Outside forces do not compel us to engage in sinful or evil behavior, but the desire within our own hearts draws us into a disobedient realm. While the devil serves as a source of temptation, the decision to indulge in our desires is internally conceived. Alistair Begg explains that acting on temptation is an “inside job” and warns us to be vigilant against its enticement.

Life In The Spirit

“What now?” That’s a fair question not only for those who are beginning their walk with Christ, but for Christians at any point along the way. As we struggle with sin, endure persecution, and confront suffering, we may wonder how all of these things fit into God’s plan of salvation. We may even wonder how - or if - God is still at work.

In this series of sermons from Romans 8 by Alistair Begg, we are reminded that God’s Spirit empowers the Christian life from beginning to end as the persevering love of God holds those who belong ...
