The apostle John’s first letter to the Christians of the ancient world tackles issues of false teaching, sin, and obedience in the light of the truth of God’s incarnation and atoning work in Jesus Christ. It offers a message of warning balanced with a promise of hope in the Gospel.

In volume two of this series, Alistair Begg holds up God’s love displayed in the believer’s love for others as a reason for our assurance. God’s grace for us is not an isolated experience but spills out in love for others that reflects God’s own character. As we trust God's Word and obey Christ’s command to love, we can experience confidence in our union with Him and guard ourselves from error.
