Discouragement, adversity, and suffering often mark ministers’ lives. Sometimes we feel like the psalmist in Psalms 42 and 43, alone in the desert and forgotten by God. Drawing on the psalmist’s experience, Derek Thomas offers encouragement by pointing to God’s sovereignty and commitment to our good, demonstrated ultimately in the cross of Christ. While we will experience tribulation in this life, God will not abandon His servants.
