Dear Friend,
“In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now…”
This greeting from Paul to the Philippians has been in my mind during the past few days as I have reflected on the large company of individuals who stand with us financially and prayerfully on a month by month basis.
In my mind’s eye, I visualize individuals and families from coast to coast making prayerful decisions about what to do with their “disposable” income. As you know, our commitment to the local church is so strong that we never imagine people choosing between Truth For Life and their church. Giving to the church is a responsibility, and giving to Truth For Life is an opportunity. It is an opportunity to be part of something that is actually more widespread in its impact than any of us fully appreciate. For example, the amount of requests we have received for our children’s book of questions and answers is quite unprecedented and indicates the way in which the Word of God is reaching the next generation.
In light of all of this, I would like to invite those in our listening audience who have not yet partnered with us to join our Truthpartner team. I am hoping that God will provide us with 500 new Truthpartners in the month of July. I know that this is a significant challenge, but it is not unrealistic given your expressed interest in this ministry combined with the fact that God is able to do far more than we ask or even imagine.
For those of you who are already Truthpartners, you are probably in a better position than I am to encourage others to do as you have done by standing with us financially and prayerfully. As we welcome new Truthpartners into our midst, it is also possible that you might like to increase your monthly giving out of a sense of gratitude to God – a renewed sense of conviction that “the entrance of God’s Word brings light.”
In extending this invitation to you, I run the risk of communicating that we are in peculiar financial need. That is not the case. God has blessed us financially in the first six months of the year in large part through your faithful giving, but the long-term sustainability of this ministry is directly tied to the number of Truthpartners we have.
Paul concludes his greetings by telling the Philippians that he is “confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” I rejoice with you in this assurance and remain ever thankful for your commitment to Christ and His great commission.
Your partner in the Gospel,
Alistair
