Dear Friends,
September is off to a busy start here at Truth For Life, and I’d like to provide you with updates on some of the key projects underway in our offices recently.
As I mentioned in my last letter to you, we have been preparing a new sound for our program beginning on September 6. In addition to a refreshed version of the theme music, I will be joined on the program by a new co-host: Bob Lepine. Bob may be familiar to many of you, as he currently serves as the co-host of FamilyLife Today with Dennis Rainey. While he will continue in his current responsibilities with that ministry, he will join us each day to begin and end every broadcast.
We are excited to have Bob join our team. In addition to a strong background in broadcasting, Bob is a lay pastor in his church and understands the priority and power of Bible-based preaching. We also share a fondness for the same music of the 1960s and 70s.
If you’re looking for a more convenient way to listen to the broadcast each day, may I recommend that you download the new Truth For Life iPhone app? Our team has been working on this project for several months, and I’m pleased to tell you that the first version of the app is now available in the iTunes store. I hope that you will find it useful as you listen to the broadcast and read the daily devotional each day.
In the midst of all of these changes and new resources, our commitment to teaching the Bible is still our first priority. We remain motivated by the truth that Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners. With that in mind, we’ve selected a resource for you this month that takes us back to the core of Christianity. It’s a new book called What is the Gospel? by a young pastor named Greg Gilbert. If you are looking for a resource to give a non-Christian or a new believer, this book would make a good gift. It will also challenge and sharpen your own understanding of the Gospel. We hope that you will request a copy of the book when you support Truth For Life financially this month.
In the past month, I had the opportunity to speak at the Keswick Convention in the U.K. During that time, I was invited to expound on Romans eight. I’ve determined that this chapter is worth more attention than we gave it during that short conference, so we’ll be diving deeper into it with our congregation at Parkside in the coming weeks.
Please remember us this month in your prayers and with your financial gifts. I look forward to meeting some of you in Boston, Toronto and Buffalo in the next few weeks.
On behalf of all of us, this comes with my love in the Lord Jesus,
Alistair Begg
