Divorce and Remarriage

Confusion and criticism have surrounded the subject of divorce throughout time. Even the Pharisees asked, “Is it lawful to divorce one’s wife for any cause?” Jesus’ response remains unchangingly true: we cannot address divorce without first understanding the nature of marriage. Alistair Begg follows Jesus’ argument back to Genesis, where God established the creation ordinance of marriage as a permanent union. Our focus should remain on the institution and sanctity of marriage rather than the exception clauses.
