Journalist, Peggy Noonan said recently that we have raised up a generation of people ‘with no proper sense of inadequacy’. Today most false gospels highlight man’s achievements and man’s abilities, and yet Paul reminds the Corinthian church in 1 Corinthians 1 that ‘not many of you were wise…not many were influential…not many were of noble birth’. As pastor’s we need to be reminded of our insignificance and Christ’s preeminence. The pastor’s faith and message are not based in his personality, but rather in his proclamation- the proclamation of the cross of Jesus Christ.
