Growing In Grace (MP3 CD Series)

The Apostle Peter was writing this second letter into an environment where false teaching was clearly on the rise. Specifically, some were denying the reality of the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. As a result moral carelessness was beginning to take root among the people of God. Peter reminded them of the historical accuracy of the events of the life of Christ, events to which he himself had been a witness.

"So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have. I think it is right to refresh your memory as long as I live in the tent of this body." -2 Peter 1:12,13.

Peter sought to guard the readers against error by conveying afresh the truths that provide the necessary basis for growing to maturity. It is equally important that we, as 21st century Christians, remind ourselves regularly of the same and this teaching series does just that.

While it is easy to value what is new and novel, this letter does not encourage us to run after the latest idea, but rather to remember and hold to what we already know - the essentials of our Christian faith. We invite you to join Alistair Begg in remembering anew that by God’s divine power, He has given you everything you need for the commencement, the continuance and the completion of the Christian life. Such truth is, as Peter described it, truly a “great and precious promise.”
