The world is always telling us to be concerned with status, or being number one- the first. There are even those in the church who are fighting for position. In this message, Alistair examines a similar conflict between Jesus’ disciples through which Jesus shows us the true position of a Christian and how to gain greatness in His Kingdom.

In Scripture, we read of several instances in which Jesus’ disciples didn’t understand His ministry at all. They seemed to understand Jesus as a worker of miracles and finally understood Him as the Messiah—regarding Him as a triumphant and powerful political figure. In this message, Alistair explains how we, though having seen the end of the story, still hold to misconceptions concerning the entire nature of Jesus’ ministry.

Have you ever thought that if you just do more good works than bad that you might be able to secure your place in the Kingdom of God? Over and over in the gospels, we learn that Jesus’ disciples felt deserving of such honor and glory for themselves. In this message, Alistair examines one such instance and what Jesus says about the true means by which we enter the Kingdom of God.

In the early church, the Apostles faithfully taught from the Scripture because understanding the doctrine of God is the only way to truly know Christ. Therefore, it is essential that we study our Bibles and accurately interpret Christian doctrine with the help of expository preaching that is faithful to the Word of God. Solemon says in Proverbs that there is more hope for a fool than for a man who is wise in his own eyes, and Paul says that God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise.
