An Encounter with Jesus

A prestigious religious leader of his time, Nicodemus sought out Jesus under cover of darkness to learn more about Him. When they met, Jesus spoke plainly about the kingdom of God and the predicament that man faces. He explained that external religion—all the usual things we rely on to gain divine favor—cannot open the door to God’s kingdom. As Alistair Begg points out, though, Jesus also offered a solution: an invitation to be born again and receive eternal life.
