When it came to meeting physical needs, Jesus’ compassion was unfailing. As Alistair Begg points out, though, the need to be healed of disease or disability is always secondary to our need for the Gospel. Jesus used healings as object lessons to teach a more significant message: that only He could remove the sin and guilt that mars the soul. One person saved from damnation is a larger achievement than a whole host of people healed from illness or hunger.
