In John chapter 6, we see how quickly the tide of popular opinion exposed the superficial commitment of many of Jesus’ followers. Those who walked away rejected Christ not because He challenged their intellect, but because He challenged their lives. As Alistair Begg explains, the same choice confronts each of us. Following Jesus places demands on our lives, and we can either turn and walk away or say with Peter, “Lord to whom shall we go? You have words of eternal life.”
