Jesus’ True Family

Mark 3:31–35  (ID: 2690)

Family life can be an immense blessing—but it can also be accompanied by disappointment, and it will ultimately be ended by death. In Christ Jesus, however, we experience a different reality. Jesus declared that whoever does God’s will is His brother, sister, and mother. Alistair Begg reminds us that when we become God’s child, we join His true family—one that will last for eternity. In this reality, we will discover unending joy, and our priorities will reflect that we are heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ.

Jesus' Mother and Brothers

31And his mother and his brothers came, and standing outside they sent to him and called him. 32And a crowd was sitting around him, and they said to him, “Your mother and your brothers3 are outside, seeking you.” 33And he answered them, “Who are my mother and my brothers?” 34And looking about at those who sat around him, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! 35For whoever does the will of God, he is my brother and sister and mother.”
