As the time approached for him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem. -Luke 9:51
Do you ever get so caught up in the details of your own circumstances that you miss the bigger picture of the world around you? If so, then you’re in good company.
In the final weeks of his life, Jesus deliberately turned his attention toward Jerusalem and the events that awaited him there. While the disciples followed him on his physical journey toward the city, they remained woefully out of step with his greatest redemptive concerns.
He then began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and after three days rise again. -Mark 8:31
During his advance to Jerusalem with his disciples, Jesus began his most explicit teaching on the purpose of his life and ministry—to die on a cross and rise from the dead. Yet, the disciples interrupted His teaching with An Ill-Conceived Rebuke, an Ill-Advised Argument, and An Ill-Timed Request. Their concept of the Messiah did not include one who would die in shame, but rather a warrior who would lead them to triumph and glory.
But they did not understand what he meant and were afraid to ask him about it. -Mark 9:32
Unfortunately, we are more like the disciples than we care to admit! Many professing Christians have trivialized the Gospel message—shunning the promise of persecution, suffering, and eternal reward, and instead are expecting their best life now. Along with the disciples, we continue to prove that “They Just Don’t Get It, Do We?” Join Alistair Begg to discover whether or not you are prepared to understand the radical nature of Jesus’ teaching.
Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” -Mark 8:34

| paul finley March 31, 2010 | I love the Gospel and the truth that comes through it or by, for many today even leaders of these perilous times are like the early Christian, even as your ministry set out to portray man's weakness because he continue to sow to the flesh, and especially his mind the things of a Christian behavior and a sacrificial life in these times known to some as trials but to others a time to lift up Christ. I dare not exploit this message as if your ministry did not address it correctly. I continue to pray for your ministry because I know the plan of the Lord will continue to feed His sheep the simple milk of the Word, that we not devour one another. Stay Blessed you and this flock because they have such a leader that can see and feed them carefully the sincere milk of the Word. |
