When God called Jonah to preach to the Ninevites, the Old Testament prophet was convinced they did not deserve a chance to repent and be saved from judgment. He thought he had a better grasp of who deserved grace than God Himself, and so he ran from the Lord’s call. But there is no running from the one who is sovereign over all things and who is drawing people from all nations to Himself.

In this series, Alistair Begg examines the story of Jonah and challenges us to see the glory of God’s providence and the breadth of His grace. God works through unworthy servants, and He offers forgiveness that is undeserved. As we proclaim God’s forgiveness to others, it makes no sense to choose “worthy” and “unworthy” candidates to receive it. We must instead obey God and ask ourselves, “Does any bitterness keep me from wanting unbelieving people become the committed followers of Jesus Christ?”
