No matter what stage of life we are in, every believer needs to understand the link between the faith that we profess and the lifestyle that should characterize us. The challenge isn't to blend in with the culture, but by our distinctiveness, to adorn the gospel. In Titus 2:1-5, Paul begins this instruction in Christian living with the older generation of men and women, whose stage in life presents new responsibilities and opportunities to influence those around them.

The book of Titus was written to a church living in moral and doctrinal confusion. Paul charged Titus to set things in order by teaching sound doctrine and instructing his congregation in the character that should be manifested among those who profess faith in Christ. In this introduction to the book of Titus, we learn that Paul's encouragement to cultivate discernment and godly living is as relevant now as it was in the first century.

Temptation is the enticement to sin and is rooted in our own evil desire. Outside forces do not compel us to engage in sinful or evil behavior, but the desire within our own hearts draws us into a disobedient realm. While the devil serves as a source of temptation, the decision to indulge in our desires is internally conceived. Alistair Begg explains that acting on temptation is an “inside job” and warns us to be vigilant against its enticement.

Daily commitment and devotion are essential to our step-by-step journey toward heaven. The Apostle Paul compares our daily lives to conditioning for a marathon. Such preparation entails strain and difficulty. When we are not prepared for sacrifice, we will never know the joy of the prize. In this message on 1 Corinthians 9, Alistair Begg instructs us to not run aimlessly, but instead to run for the goal of eternal life with Christ.

The Apostle Paul encourages us to pursue knowledge that will transcend us into a life worthy of Christ. Our incentive to live knowingly should not be aligned with how it makes us feel but instead, motivated by our desire to bring glory to God. In this message, Alistair Begg outlines four marks of a life that is pleasing to Jesus – fruitful, knowledgeable, powerful and thankful.

The challenge for today’s churches to remain rooted in the truth of the Gospel is not new. In fact, the church in Colossae during the days of the Apostle Paul was influenced by many worldly falsehoods, including superstition, mythology and even simple error in doctrinal translation. In his letter to the Colossians, Paul imposes two key messages which are as applicable today as they were then. First, he re-confirms that all things were created and hold together through Jesus Christ and that we must walk with Him and hold steadfast to our faith in His saving power. Paul then provides ...

The nature of spiritual gifts are often misunderstood, but the Bible provides some clear direction on the purpose and bestowal of these gifts that are given to build up the church. Rather than being something that we can pick and choose for ourselves, they are truly given as gifts from God.

Between when we were born again and when we will see Jesus, we are to be steadfast and full of the Spirit. We learn that 'fullness' is metaphorical, therefore to be fulled with the Spirit, implies that the Spirit is the dominant influence and characteristic of our behavior. We learn the difference between habitual fullness and occasional fullness for special reasons in regard to the Holy Spirit. We also learn thatfullness of the Spirit is a Christian privilege and a Christian command.
