There is never a day that goes by without the lyric of a song or a hymn coming into my mind and influencing my thinking. Perhaps it's because it is now February, the month of Valentine's Day, that I have awakened with the words of "How Deep the Father's Love for Us" by Stuart Townend on my mind:
How deep the Father's love for us, How vast beyond all measure, That He should give His only Son, To make a wretch His treasure.
This song reminds me of what the Apostle John tells us: "In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins" (1 John 4:10).
In keeping with the immense generosity of God, and because of the generosity of our Truthpartners and faithful donors who have supported our ministry with such commitment, we have embarked on a new project to expand the accessibility of clear and relevant Bible teaching. Beginning February 1, the prices on CDs, DVDs and most books have been greatly lowered and are available for purchase through our website and also over the phone at Truth For Life. In fact, we now extend most of these to you at our own cost.
Incidentally, if you haven't joined the team of listeners and friends who make this possible, then now is a good time. Our Truthpartners help us spread the Gospel through projects like this one and through the regular daily broadcasts on over 1,500 radio outlets worldwide and also on the internet. If you are a Truthpartner, we want to say "thank you" for your ongoing support that enables us to undertake projects like this one.
Let me share with you a recent letter to give you a better idea of the impact our Truthpartners have:
Greetings from Budapest, Hungary! My wife, Robin, and I serve here as missionaries with the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. We listen to the Truth For Life podcasts while fixing meals or washing dishes in the kitchen. Your ministry has been a real encouragement to us, especially the series on Joseph. Things have been a bit tough lately, and these messages remind us to keep an eternal perspective and to trust in our Lord's sovereignty. Our three teenage children also enjoy Alistair's messages; Robert downloads the podcasts to listen while doing chores or taking public transit. Thank you for making these resources available to us.
Finally this month, I am happy to commend our featured resource to you. I recently came across a comment from C.S. Lewis in which he observed that throughout history, the people who have made the biggest impact in the "here and now" have been individuals whose minds were taken up with the "there and then." Paul Wolfe's book, "Setting Our Sights on Heaven," not only clarifies what the Bible has to say on this subject, but also helps the reader prepare for the day when we will no longer see through a glass darkly. Reading this book has helped me not only fulfill my pastoral duty in preparing my people for death but, more importantly, prepare myself. I am more interested in going to heaven now having read this book! Please contact us today with your gift to receive your own copy.
With my love in the Lord Jesus,
