Providence: A Game Plan for Suffering: From Joseph to Jesus

Alistair Begg writes:

What a saga of injustice, and what a potential for bitterness. Joseph was opposed, imprisoned, maligned, misunderstood, slandered, falsely accused and wrongfully persecuted. The details of his life, though, foreshadowed Christ. In talking about Christ, 1 Peter 2:23 says, “When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.”

Just like Joseph, we will experience seasons in our lives when we will find ourselves on the receiving end of accusations, slander and other forms of mistreatment. This is hard to take when it is undeserved. It comes like a hard slap in the face that stuns and surprises us.
