Eric Liddell (1902-1945) was a well-known Olympic athlete and missionary of the 20th century. The inspiring film "Chariots of Fire" chronicled his decision to withdraw from the 100-meter race in the 1924 Summer Olympics rather than race on Sunday. His strong religious convictions later led him to follow in his parent's footsteps, dedicating his life to serve as a missionary in China.
