Monthly Newsletter: "Looking to the Future"

Previous Next

Dear Friends,

Monthly newsletterAlistair asked me to write on his behalf this month and share the encouraging news that Truth For Life is being heard by more people than ever before. With mid-year 2012 quickly approaching, I am pleased to provide you with a ministry update and affirm how your support is helping God's Word reach listeners all over the world.

In addition to those who tune in to Truth For Life each day on over 1,500 radio outlets, we see many listeners now regularly accessing the broadcast using our app for mobile phones, subscribing to our free podcasts and listening at our website. At this point in the year:

  • More than 21,000 people subscribe to our daily devotional
  • Over 15,000 follow us on Facebook
  • Approximately 4,700 hear Alistair by podcast
  • Nearly 66,000 have downloaded our app to their mobile phones and listen at their own convenience
  • Over 36,000 followers receive our monthly Truthlines email newsletter
  • Approximately 3,500 stay in touch with us on Twitter

Consistent with our mission, to teach the Bible with clarity and relevance so that unbelievers will be converted, believers will be established, and local churches will be strengthened, we made a move in February to eliminate profit margin from Alistair's teaching CDs, DVDs and books so that they are affordable to all. In the month of March, requests for these resources nearly doubled, generating the largest number of orders in our 17-year history!

One of our listeners, Wally, recently wrote to us and said, "I am so grateful for the pastor on the internet and on CD and MP3 CD. I am able to buy CDs because of the great decrease in cost and can also buy them for others."

In May 2009, we made a similar change by making Alistair's entire archive of sermons available for no charge. Since then, over 11.5 million files have been downloaded from our website. We are thankful to see such widespread distribution of the truth of God's Word. The eternal effect is incalculable, and your financial partnership makes it possible to share quality Bible teaching in this way.

Looking to the future, we hope to connect with more targeted audiences using instruction designed for specific groups of listeners. This month, in fact, we're airing a new series called Lessons For Life that college students will find particularly relevant. I hope you'll avail yourself of this series along with the featured book selected specifically for its usefulness to young people. Don't Call It a Comeback: The Old Faith for a New Day explores the basic and essential doctrines of our Christian faith and is written by young pastors and leaders speaking to the next generation of Christians. While the series and the book are directed toward college-age students, the application reaches far beyond that group and would be an excellent addition to any library.

Your giving is not only a vote of continued encouragement, but a friendly arm of partnership around our shoulder. Thank you for joining with us in our mission. Our vision for the future is grand, and ideas for wider distribution of the Word of God abound. Thank you for your dedicated support and faithful prayer to share the Gospel through God's servant, Alistair Begg.

Grace and peace,

Robert H. Butts
