In Daniel’s day, King Nebuchadnezzar looked out at Babylon and glorified himself for the kingdom he thought he’d created. God, however, sent him disturbing dreams, along with Daniel as an interpreter, to awaken his spirit. As a result, the king’s pride in himself gave way to praise of God. As Alistair Begg relates, while we may have empires of our own, the concept of soli Deo gloria—“glory to God alone”—should be a reality in our lives, as well.
