“Who am I, really?” We may think of this question as one faced by young people trying to make sense of their lives, but it’s actually a question for us all—one that only the Bible can rightly answer. One place we can turn to for insight is Psalm 139, which opens with this staggering truth from the lips of David: “O Lord, you have searched me and known me!”

In this short series, Alistair Begg leads us through the 139th Psalm, which helps us to see that the quest to understand our identity begins not by looking inward but by looking upward. God, we learn, not only made us, encompasses us, and stands in righteous judgment over us; He also knows us intimately and completely. And in Jesus, He has paved the way for us to know Him and be in His presence forever.
