"Read your Bible." This is a common instruction in Christian circles, but do we stop to consider the reason for it? It is always helpful to be reminded of our need for the truth that is found in Scripture, yet it is also necessary to remind ourselves of the authority of the Bible. The Apostle Paul’s passion was to help followers of Christ understand not only the usefulness of studying God’s Word and hearing it preached, but the foundation for it.

In this series, called The Work of the Word, Alistair Begg affirms that Scripture is trustworthy and examines how God has purposed it to be a guide and an agent of change in the Christian walk. As followers of Christ, we are called to be dependent on God’s Word because it is spiritual food that will sustain the soul. Pastors, teachers, and congregations must commit to the priority of the Bible. These are God’s words, and they are His provision for living in a way that is pleasing to Him.
