Close, but Not Close Enough

 (ID: 1388)

In Mark 12, we meet a scribe who questioned Jesus not as a cynic or a skeptic but as a sincere spiritual seeker. He came so close to understanding Jesus’ significance that Jesus even told him that he was “not far from the kingdom of heaven.” Is “not far” close enough, though? Alistair Begg helps us to answer this pressing question, showing us how loving God means not only embracing orthodox belief but also recognizing our need for a Savior and responding to the Gospel’s urgent call.

34And when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” eAnd after that no one dared to ask him any more questions.
