An Encouraging Word

1 Thessalonians 1:1-4  (ID: 3123)

Following Paul's example, Alistair Begg encourages listeners with an essential foundation of our hope in Christ – the grace of God. Christians have been united to Christ and to His people by grace, and although salvation in Christ is by faith alone, our faith is never alone. Genuine Christian belief is marked by works of faith, costly love, and steadfast hope. Understanding that our hope comes from the grace of God alone should establish in us a response of genuine gratitude.

1Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy,

Grace to you and peace.

The Thessalonians' Faith and Example

2We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly1 mentioning you in our prayers, 3remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. 4For we know, brothers2 loved by God, that he has chosen you,
