God gives His people great spiritual gifts—yet controversy still surrounds their nature and purpose. Alistair Begg stakes out a biblical position concerning this debate, focusing especially on the gifts of tongues, apostleship, and prophecy. According to the New Testament pattern, these gifts were intended to authenticate the apostolic Gospel and to strengthen the emerging church as it moved toward maturity. Since this phase of the church is long past, the gifts need no longer be exercised as they once were.
