The picture of Jesus welcoming little children is familiar to many. But this moment from the Gospels is much more than an example of Jesus’ kindness. As Alistair Begg notes, it teaches us an important lesson about the kingdom of God: it belongs to the weak, helpless, and unimportant. Salvation cannot be earned by our status or good works but must be received as a child receives an undeserved gift.
