Providence, teaches Alistair Begg, is the ongoing exercise of God’s power through which He upholds all creatures and administers all that occurs in the world. From this foundational truth, several important implications emerge: our pride is humbled, uncertainty no longer leads us to fear, and adversity need not lead to self-pity, because God is in control. If we wish to know such comfort, we must humble ourselves and rest in the security of God’s sovereignty.
