The Name of Jesus

Matthew 1:21  (ID: 1649)

Of all the names by which the Son of God’s birth might have been announced, the name “Jesus” was chosen. Why? The name’s meaning provides the answer: Jesus means “the Lord saves.” When Jesus’ name was announced, so was His mission to save the people from their sins. As Alistair Begg explains in this Christmas sermon, the question now is a personal one: What does the name of Jesus mean to you?

21She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”
