A Neglected Essential — Part One

 (ID: 2814)

The ascension of Christ is an often-neglected doctrine of Christianity, but it is nevertheless crucial. The ascension gave Jesus’ followers a final image of Him as a triumphant King before He departed for heaven. This had a profound effect on the disciples, whose previous anxiety at His leaving turned into worship, joy, and preparation to be His witnesses. As Alistair Begg points out, the knowledge of Christ’s ascension is to have the same impact on believers today!

51While he blessed them, bhe parted from them and was carried up into heaven. 52And they cworshiped him and zreturned to Jerusalem dwith great joy, 53and ewere continually in the temple fblessing God.
