We might think someone like the rich young ruler in Mark 10 would be a great addition to God’s kingdom. His youth, wealth, and status could have been very influential. When the ruler asked Jesus how he could have eternal life, however, Jesus gave him an answer that left him sad. The kingdom of God demands a man or woman’s first allegiance, teaches Alistair Begg. Whatever we worship must be relinquished if we’re going to follow Jesus.
