The New Testament begins in a surprising way: with the genealogy of Jesus Christ. Yet as Alistair Begg explains, given God’s promises to Abraham and David, this is exactly how it should open! Jesus, the Gospels tell us, is the one in whom all previous promises are fulfilled. He is the true Adam and true Israel who comes to represent and redeem God’s people, saving us not because of anything we have done but by what He has accomplished for us.
