The Purpose of John’s Gospel

John 20:30–31  (ID: 1327)

The Gospel of John is not simply biographical and informational; it seeks to transform lives and secure converts by pointing to Jesus as the object of true faith and real life. John called for a moral commitment of the heart, mind, and will that is founded upon knowledge of Jesus as the Son of God. Alistair Begg helps us to understand the difference between generic belief and genuine faith, reminding us that real faith is a gift of God’s grace.

The Purpose of This Book

30Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; 31but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
