The Servant King

 (ID: 3059)

With the cross looming, the King of the universe washed His disciples’ feet. Why would Jesus do such a thing? As Alistair Begg explains, this was in part an object lesson: the washing foreshadowed the cleansing that His blood on the cross would provide. It also demonstrated a humility that Jesus’ disciples are meant to emulate, even today. Finally, it was one more reminder that Christ’s cosmic victory over evil came not through might and power but through humility and service.
