Paul often contrasted the preconversion condition of his readers with their newfound position in Christ. Alistair Begg explains that in Colossians 2, Paul used pictures to drive this contrast home. At the cross, God wiped the slate clean and blotted out the record of our sin. He nailed our debt to the cross, and Christ bore our sentence of death. When the devil accuses us, we must remember these truths—for at the cross, Jesus won the victory forever.
