Verse of the Year — Part One

Psalm 138:2  (ID: 1584)

Humanity is preoccupied with its own achievements and interests; God, however, has exalted His own name above all things and remains sovereign. Yet God has also chosen to reveal Himself to us through His names, which express His true character. At the beginning of the new year, Alistair Begg walks us through the praise of the psalmist, showing us that the only real reckoning of our lives is found in our standing before the living God.

2I bow down toward your holy temple

and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and your faithfulness,

for you have exalted above all things

your name and your word.1
