Nehemiah: Doing God's Work, God's Way
Nehemiah: Doing God’s Work, God’s Way is a verse-by-verse study through the Old Testament book of Nehemiah, which recounts the rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem and the restoration of God’s city for the sake of His glory. Nehemiah’s prayerful dependence, devotion to the Word, and commitment to lead in repentant faith offer a timeless template for spiritual leadership.
Drawn from the Bible teaching of Alistair Begg, this study guide is designed to be used as a supplemental companion to the ESV biblical text. It contains twelve sessions that include extensive commentary from Alistair, reflection questions for individual or group discussion, and a reading to inspire reflection, prayer, and worship.
Key Themes include:
- The Lord hears prayer.
- The Lord works providentially, especially through powerful rulers, to bring about His greater purposes.
- The Lord protects His people.
- The Lord is merciful and faithful to His promises despite His people’s ongoing sin.
- Worship is at the center of the life of God’s people.
- God’s people need to be on their guard against their own moral weakness.
The study guide can be used for both individual and group study. It also contains helpful resources and study tools for group leaders and participants.
