Amazing Love

We all love a good story—but while Jesus’ parables captured the attention of many of his hearers, not everyone was so enthralled. Trusting their own good works for salvation, the Pharisees spurned Jesus’ teaching. Those who knew the emptiness of sin, however, recognized their need for the hope found in Jesus’ stories of redemption. Perhaps no parable illustrates this contrast better than the story of the prodigal son. Featuring a cast of characters with whom the strictly religious and brazenly sinful alike can relate, this parable movingly depicts how God the Father seeks reconciliation with both.
