The Ascension—the final act of Jesus’ earthly ministry—is an event often overlooked by the church today. It’s just as much a display of God’s power, however, as the Resurrection, and is always paired with the Resurrection in the apostles’ teaching. As Alistair Begg points out, contemporary believers can still take comfort in the fact that Jesus ascended with blessing in His hands, and then sat down at his Father’s side to show the completeness of His sacrifice.

50Then he led them out as far as Bethany, and lifting up his hands he blessed them.
