Mordecai and Esther

 (ID: 2964)

In the kingdom of Persia, God was working behind the scenes, using Esther and her uncle Mordecai to bring about His sovereign plan. He gave Esther her beauty, which reminds us to avoid pride and comparison with others. He also gave Mordecai his position, which reminds us of the challenges of living in a pagan culture. While both of them made the questionable choice to hide their faith from Persian authorities, Alistair Begg reminds us that we read Esther not to find specific moral examples but to see God’s sovereignty at work.
