Running on the Gas of the Gospel

Colossians 2:8–10  (ID: gs1179)

Everyone has a worldview that guides their behavior. All philosophy without Christ, though, is hollow. David Robertson exhorts pastors to be aware of the empty philosophies that are common today. Pastors should guard their people against the hopelessness of the world’s answers to life’s biggest questions and teach the fullness that is only found in Christ.

8See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits1 of the world, and not according to Christ. 9For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, 10and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority.
