The Secret of Spiritual Prosperity

James 1:19–21  (ID: 1247)

Two people sit under the same sound Bible teaching. One grows in spiritual maturity, but one does not. Why is this? Alistair Begg explains that proper reception of the Word is necessary for spiritual prosperity. Anger, moral filth, and prevalent evil can hinder our response to the Word. In comparison, hunger for the Word and humility create fertile soil for growth. We should consider areas in our life that hinder our own response and be ruthless in ridding ourselves of them.

Hearing and Doing the Word

19Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; 20for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. 21Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
