Something to Boast About

 (ID: 1294)

It’s natural to want to boast about our accomplishments. What we’ve achieved, however, does not solve the problem of what Alistair Begg calls “our deceitful hearts.” Our only hope lies in the faithfulness of God, who has made Himself known to us through Jesus Christ. We know what we need to know about God through the witness of His Son. Putting our whole weight of dependence upon Jesus is the only way to know God rightly.

23Thus says the Lord: y“Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, 24but zlet him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. aFor in these things I delight, declares the Lord.”
