While Athens was a city full of intellectual giants, all their learning could not bring them meaning and security. Sin had so deceived them that they cast about desperately, looking for any god that could provide hope. Paul responded by introducing them to the God they didn’t know—a God uncreated by human hands, in whom alone meaning and security can be found.
