Sadly, squabbles and division within the Church can rival those outside of it. In Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians, he pointed out the incongruity of division among those who are called into fellowship with the Lord. Harmony and agreement on the central issues of Christian doctrine are essential within the Church. Alistair Begg notes that when congregations quarrel, they mar the joy of fellowship as well as their testimony to the watching world.
